Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Junior Gardener’s Club starting up at Paradise Gardens 160 Joe Reeves Road Guntersville, AL 35976.  Club will start on May 17 and meet every 3rd Thursday time to be announced (leaning toward late afternoon).  May 17 meeting will include a pot luck dinner.  The club will offer speakers and classes for growing and crossing daylilies, iris, vegetables, and other perennials and shrubs.  There will be community service opportunities, competitions, and plants sales (where the children will grow, package, and sale their own plants).  We will have a centralized show garden adjacent to our existing flower beds, but the children will be provided plants and instructions for their own home gardens as well.  The ages can be as young as the attention span will allow to 18 years old.  Many of the national societies offer scholarship opportunities for the older kids.  The cost is only $19 per child for one year or a family membership will be $80.  The cost includes membership in the national and regional iris societies, the American Hemerocallis Society, and quarterly bulletins from all organizations. No experience is necessary, but a love for dirt and things that grow is a plus.  If you have questions or need more information you can contact Kathy Lang at myangelkat@yahoo.com  or call 256-477-5773.
