Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Gardendale Music Lessons

MUSIC LESSONS: Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Drums, Bass Guitar
One-on-one lessons, 30 minutes per week
New timeslots available 1pm-3pm Mon-Fri

When my wife April and I started to consider home-school as a serious option for our four children, we knew there were many things to take into consideration. We had already learned to recognize and appreciate the multiple benefits of home-school because we have many friends and family members who had already made that decision. The list of “pros” was substantial.

So, what were the “cons” in our minds? Having gone to public school, we had the chance to take advantage of education in the arts, elective courses, and many extra-curricular activities. Would our children be well-rounded individuals without those opportunities?

Many of you have already found programs that allow your child to participate in sports or art, or perhaps have found a few opportunities to provide them with needed social interaction.

As a home-school dad, there is a service I’d like to provide your family. I teach private, one-on-one lessons for guitar and drums and I’m now offering lessons during convenient home-school hours. If you would like your student to learn acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, or percussion, now is a good time to sign up for newly available weekly timeslots. In addition to learning how to play an instrument, your student will learn basic music theory and notation. You’ve seen the research that shows that students taking courses in music performance and music appreciation scored higher in the SAT than students with no arts participation. Music performance students scored 53 points higher on the verbal and 39 points higher on the math. Music appreciation students scored 61 points higher on the verbal and 42 points higher on the math. I have been an active musician for twenty years, starting with percussion in the school band and in school choir. I have been active in church music for the past seventeen years, beginning as a drummer with the church band. Twelve years ago, at age nineteen, I joined a church staff as Minister of Music and Choir Director. That’s when I began to lead worship while playing a guitar and got serious about being a musician. I’m currently the Worship Leader at WaterStone Church in Warrior. I have developed a real love for music and for teaching new musicians over the years. I would be happy to help your family develop a love for music as well.

Lessons are taught at a recording studio conveniently located a block behind Chick-fil-a in Gardendale.
Most timeslots are during evening hours, but now, home-school families can now take advantage our expanded hours. These new timeslots are between 1:00 to 3:00, Monday through Friday. Lessons are 30 minutes each, once a week.
The fee varies based on your family’s situation.

Please call me to reserve time-slots today; they are filling up quickly. Feel free to call me with any questions as well.
