Everest Academy is sponsored by Everest Family Ministry in the Birmingham Metro Area. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

FREE American Literature Curriculum



This would make a great high school American Literature Curriculum for FREE.  You could get copies of the suggested books at your local library.  



Age Range: 14 and up (high school and beyond)
The National Endowment for the Arts developed this program and companion website to "create a nation of readers." The idea is to inspire people to read good literature defined as follows:

"A great book combines enlightenment with enchantment. It awakens our imagination and enlarges our humanity. It can even offer harrowing insights that somehow console and comfort us." 

To inspire you to read the titles selected by the NEA, and to further learning, the website provides free reader and teacher guides with language arts lessons and activities, radio programs, video profiles, and information about book authors.
