After-school college readiness and portfolio development
Alabama Charcoal is a Portfolio Development and College Readiness program dedicated to helping high school students increase their college opportunities though competitive visual art portfolios and technical drawing skills. Students will develop their technical skills by gestural charcoal and ink drawings from direct observation. Alabama Charcoal will provide portfolio critiques by mentors, visiting artists, and personalized assignments to complete an accomplished college portfolio. Students will also receive help with their college applications, scholarships and essays. The program meets in Space One Eleven’s professional painting studios 2409 2nd Ave North, Birmingham.
Who: Young artists 15-18 yrs old
Cost: $100/month, Supplies included, Scholarships available
This is the updated info. Suzanne sent to me -- We will work on a case by case basis with families who are interested, and offer them reduced/free prices based on their income and household size, which we keep private. No family will be asked to pay $100/month.
