We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Central Alabama Homeschool TerraCycle



TerraCycle makes affordable, eco-friendly products from a wide range of different non-recyclable waste materials.





TerraCycle upcycles and recycles traditionally non-recyclable waste (including drink pouches, chip bags, tooth brushes and many more) into a large variety of consumer products. These products keep waste out of our landfills and contribute to a cleaner world. TerraCycle products are available at a wide range of major retailers from Wal*Mart to Target as well as online.


 

Our group joins a TerraCycle brigade to collect a certain item for use in particular up/recycle projects. In order to be cost-efficient and be more eco-friendly, TerraCycle requires certain amounts of items before the group can ship them. To help make this the most efficient we can, we have created the Central AL Homeschoolers TerraCycle group to collect and send in large amounts of materials at one time, thus minimizing shipping and  meeting any minimum requirements. 

At this time, our group's profits are donated to Everest Academy to use for an Earth Day celebration each year that is open to all homeschoolers. Earth Day Bash 2011 was a blast, and we were able to furnish nearly all of the supplies for our crafts from the money we earned through TerraCycle. We hope to have an even bigger and better celebration for Earth Day 2012. So, help us earn money for an awsome Earth Day Party AND keep upcyclable items out of landfills!
