- My First Garden is a colorful interactive Web site for kids that walks them through the steps of planning and planting (and the reasoning behind them), from determining the amount of sun your site gets to reading a seed packet. Students can download garden journal pages and planning forms and use the “encyclopedia” to choose their plants. They’ll also find creative container gardening ideas and solutions for tough garden sites. My First Garden was developed by University of Illinois Extension to introduce 4th graders to gardens.

- Colorado has had some extreme weather conditions in the past week. With tornadoes, rain, rainbows, and hail, The Why Files seemed like a fitting site to highlight today. The Why Files bring science to life virtually. Students can make rainbows, control a tornado, play with lightning, and build a snowflake. If only the real weather was this easy to control! The Why Files begin each interactive with a brief “why” of how the weather occurrence works, students can read all about the occurrence and even get a link where they can learn more. The fun starts when the students enter the interactive where they can control the weather.

Ollie's World - Earth Day is April 22nd, Ollie’s World is a fantastic place to begin the celebration early. Here students will learn about the 4 R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle, rethink as they apply to the 5 action issues of waste, water, energy, air, and biodiversity. The site is packed full of games, puzzles, information and projects. Students can create web pages using a free (downloadable) version of WebEasy.
