Learning Materials Wanted for Kenyan Mission Trip
~A note from Angela Shuford
My husband and I just got back from a mission trip to an orphanage / school in Ruiru, Kenya with Spear International Ministries. We were able to spend time with the students and were so impressed with their ability and eagerness to learn. But we were shocked to see their "learning materials." They had NO storybooks or reading materials at all. Their school books (a very minimal number!) were not from the last several decades. The school would be thrilled to have books for the children to enjoy and the teachers would be delighted with any curricula that you no longer need. We hope to go back to Kenya in the next couple of months to deliver educational materials. If homeschooling families have any books for the children (or the teachers) and curricula, it would be so appreciated. I would gladly pick up books from individuals. If you have valuable curricula and would like a tax receipt, I can provide one from the charity. Please contact me if you would like to share your resources. The children speak English from about the 3rd grade up, so books aimed at that age and older would be most helpful.
Thank you so very much,
Angela Shuford
