Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Safe Sitter – Our organization provides this vital program to help provide safe and secure care for young children today while empowering young adolescents to become tomorrow’s citizens and parents. The safe sitter will learn how a child’s age affects how to care for them, how to prevent problem behavior and how to rescue a choking infant or child.

Sports Fit – Sports Fit will help your child gain fitness and sports skills while improving confidence and self-esteem. A great overview of various sports and fundamental skills will be learned. Teamwork and good sportsmanship are stressed. Specific sport activities will vary by each class. This session is designed to ignite a passion for sports. Children will improve their kicking, running, jumping, and throwing skills. Introduction to various sports will include T-ball, hockey, basketball, soccer, tug-of-war, Frisbees and relay races. Individual instruction, organized drills and fun games will be included.

HOFNOD – Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs. This program uses fishing, tackle, knot tying, casting, use of bait, and safety to address: Positive alternatives to drug use, motivation, communication, building self-esteem, responsibility, positive role models, the ability to overcome peer pressure, good problem-solving strategies, decision-making skills, and improved family interaction. Just because a youngster fishes does not guarantee that he or she will remain drug-free. However, children who possess the aforementioned life skills and can communicate with their parents are less likely to turn to drugs.
