Everest Academy is sponsored by Everest Family Ministry in the Birmingham Metro Area. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

April 25 - 28, Homewood: NCFCA Speech & Debate Tournament

NCFCA Speech and Debate Tournament April 25-28th

Have you ever wondered about competitive speech and debate for your homeschooled students?

Have you ever wanted your students to see what a real debate looks like?

Or have you ever wondered if it was possible for students to actually ENJOY public speaking?

If yes, then you are officially invited to learn more about speech and debate for homeschoolers by visiting the NCFCA Region VII Regional Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament, April 25-28,2012, at Homewood Church of Christ.  Approximately 150 students from 5 states have earned invitations to this tournament and will be competing for the opportunity to participate at the National Championship in Minnesota.

To prepare for this tournament we need 500 volunteer judges.  So as you make make plans to attend the tournament, please consider volunteering as a judge.  This is a three hour time commitment which requires no prior experience.  Training and food will be provided.  The feedback we have gotten from judges in the past includes: WOW! Inspiring. Entertaining. Moving. Informative. Hilarious.  If your children are old enough to sit quietly for at least 1 1/2 hours, then they are welcome to attend with you.  Feel free to forward this email to others that you might think might  be interested.
