Everest Academy is sponsored by Everest Family Ministry in the Birmingham Metro Area. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

April - June, Bham: High School Writing Workshops FREE!!!

Don't miss the three final workshops in Writing a Novel is not Impossible, author Nadria Tucker's amazing series that breaks down the novel-writing process. As always, the workshops are free to attend, but space is limited and registration is required.

Note: These workshops are independent of each other, so you do not need to have come to the first two in the series to attend one (or all) of these.

The Plot Thickens
Ages 13-18 | Saturday, April 21 • 2-3:30 p.m. • Limit 12 students | Woodrow Hall
Bilbo finds a ring. Alice falls down a rabbit hole. Katniss Everdeen volunteers for her sister. In stories, something always happens. Then, something else happens. And something else. And all of this forms the plot. Come talk plot with Nadria and see what happens next in your story.

Landscape and SettingAges 13-18 | Saturday, May 26, 2-3:30 p.m. | Limit 12 students | Woodrow Hall
Sometimes the setting of a novel is just where the action takes place. In other novels, the setting operates more like a separate character. In this workshop, Nadria will guide discussion of all the ways to use landscape and setting in your own novel.

He Said, She Said
Ages 13-18 | Saturday, June 30, 2-3:30 p.m. | Limit 12 students | Woodrow Hall
In the first installment of Writing a Novel is not Impossible, Nadria and the workshop participants talked about drawing rich, believable characters. In this final workshop, we'll come full circle and discuss the importance of rich, believable dialogue between characters.
