Summer Park Days at Turkey Creek!

August 17
September 7
September 21
Starting May 18th through September--weather permitting--our monthly 1st & 3rd Friday park days will be held at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Pinson, AL.*
We will "officially" meet from 1:00-3:00pm, but TCNP opens at 8:00am so early birds are welcome to arrive earlier. There is no charge to enter the Preserve.
We will meet at the main swimming area called "the falls", located at the first large parking area you come to on the one-way entrance road. There are no restroom facilities, but their port-o-lets are always decent ~ recommend bringing antibacterial wipes or hand sanitizer. Also, the rocks in the swimming area are super slick, and it is recommended for everyone (especially kids) to wear old socks. The socks grip better than anything else we've found, even shoes specific for swimming/hiking in streams. Don't forget sunblock! The area has some shade, but the swimming area is very sunny.
There is a small, flat open space at the swimming area for playing games as well as hiking trails for those who do not wish to swim.
Adults may also want to bring lawn chairs to sit in the shallow swimming area that is also great for little kids. Turkey Creek water is flowing and clean with very limited debris, and there is a natural water slide for good swimmers--it works best with a river float! You may wish to bring blankets, etc., for picnics as there are limited park benches and no picnic tables.
Turkey Creek is a great place for families, and we look forward to seeing you there!
*TCNP is located at: 3906 Turkey Creek Rd, Pinson, AL 35126
