Everest Academy is sponsored by Everest Family Ministry in the Birmingham Metro Area. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Nicole Junkin Birmingham

My name is Nicole, and I have been married to Dave Junkin for almost 10 years. I have been homeschooling our almost eight year old son for going on four years now. This is going to be our second year with Everest Academy.

I was in the Army before moving to Alabama in 1991. I have several years experience as a veterinary technician and an optometric technician. We live in the Roebuck Springs area of Birmingham. We have 12 chickens and a cat that keep our lives jumping. We are interested in creating a homestead environment, currently an urban or hopefully eventually a country setting.

My interests include making jewelry, drawing, painting, writing, creating things out of pallets, and watching the aforementioned chickens. My son is currently very interested in all things Star Wars and all things Lego.
