Good Morning:
My name is Luzmary Nation and I and work in the Stakeholder Partnership Education and Communication (SPEC) division which is the outreach and education function of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
I would like to share exciting news about the Internal Revenue Service's free education curriculum, Understanding Taxes (UT). The Understanding Taxes Program is an easy to use, web-based, interactive curriculum that makes understanding the U.S. Federal Tax System fun and relevant
Benefits of using Understanding Taxes Application:
- Simple as A-B-C:
- Accessible on the web
- Brings learning to life by connecting the real world to the classroom
- Comprehensive: covers theories, history and contains the capability to apply what has been learned
- Benefits to teachers:
- All material is online, well organized and each topic has a fully developed lesson plan with all the resources to support the topic being taught
- Modular: All or part of lessons can be taught (you choose) independently or as a supplement to other material
- Outline what you want to teach from a topic and save it (use what you need)
- Convenient: Each lesson plan component can be easily previewed from anywhere at anytime.
- Teacher can choose what activities and lessons work best for their students and only cover that topic
- Benefits to Students:
- Students can access content anytime, anywhere since application is online
- Help students understand basic concepts behind taxes and completion of tax returns
