Everest Academy is sponsored by Everest Family Ministry in the Birmingham Metro Area. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Aug. 13, Homewood: CSI Co-op Meeting

CSI Teacher and Parents:
Welcome to CSI! Our new year is about to start in just a few short weeks. We have been busy finalizing new teachers and organizing the class schedules. Attached you will find the TENTATIVE class schedules for all grade levels.

We have hired a new Language Arts teacher, Julie Ann Johnson, who will be teaching several classes this year: Junior High Essay/Writing; Senior High Essay/Writing; Creative Writing/Journalism; and a ACT Prep Course. The ACT Prep Course is for one semester only and will be repeated for both the fall and spring semesters. She will also be teaching the Literature class on Mondays. I know the class selection form does not have her classes listed so during the parent/teacher meeting, parents and students will be able to make changes in their classes then.

We are also offering a new science class: Forensic Science.  Toni Macchia is a Forensic Scientist here in Birmingham and is looking forward to teaching this class.

We are also offering Spanish I and Spanish II classes which again are not on the class selection form but can be added during the meeting.

Our plans to hire a History teacher for Wednesday classes fell through. If that changes between now and the parent/teacher meeting, we will post an email.

The parent/teacher meeing will be August 13th at 6:30 p.m. at Shades Valley Community Church (SVCC) in the sanctuary. Students at the Junior High and Senior High levels are advised to attend this meeting. They can decide on classes, meet their teachers, and meet fellow students. The church is located at 160 Oxmoor Rd., Homewood, AL.  We will also have sign ups for field trips and volunteers.

Also, as part of our fundraiser activities, we will be collecting the Box Tops from GM products. During the month of August, Winn Dixie will be giving out Bonus Box Tops. The Bonus Box Top will be printed out at the cash register. We will collect these Box Tops in October and February.
Looking forward to great year with Creative Scholars, Inc.
