Everest Academy is sponsored by Everest Family Ministry in the Birmingham Metro Area. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Sep. 9, Bham: Future Engineers of America Program

THINK YOU MAY WANT TO BE AN ENGINEER???

The Birmingham Alumni Extension of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE- BAE) would like to extend an invitation to area high school students to participate in our 2011 Future Engineers of American Pre-College Initiative Program.

NSBE-BAE works to improve the educational opportunities for Birmingham students and in our Future Engineers of America (FEA) Program students are exposed to different aspects of the engineering profession through monthly interactive sessions.

The innovative program will allow students to participate in engineering based group activities that will help them determine which Engineering discipline best fits their goals and personality.

The program hosts 3-5 fully funded college trips and also offers the opportunity for students to volunteer in scheduled NSBE-BAE community service projects.

Graduating seniors participating in FEA are eligible for annual scholarships given by the organization.

Interested students should complete and submit applications to Ms. Chandra Blackmon cblackmo@southernco.com or Mrs. Tamara Johnson tcunning@southernco.com.

The first FEA meeting will take place at the Alabama Corporate Headquarters on Sunday, September 09, 2012. The meeting will begin promptly at 2:30 and end at 5:30.

Meetings typically meet on the second Sunday of each month.
