We are Sharing the Best Kept Secret of the South
Historical Truth 101 would like to share with you the best kept secret of the South - Dauphin Island. We are planning the first annual
Dauphin Island Family Retreat
for
November 14 -16, 2012.
You don't want to miss exploring the historical and natural treasures this amazing island located in the Gulf of Mexico has to offer.
Your days will be spent enjoying the best attractions of the island. Years of vacationing and networking on the island have enabled us to create your itinerary. We have even made sure to schedule in free time so you can enjoy the beach, the town, and the volleyball and basketball courts outside of your rooms.
During your three day adventure you will ride a 44 foot Bonner out and around Sand Island Lighthouse, drop a shrimp net on the return trip and study the catch, visit the Audubon Bird Sanctuary and learn about all of the wonderful and unique wildlife of the island, and go seine fishing and learn about the island's water life. In addition you will get a special tour of Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines. We have secured sought-after speaker, author, and Civil War historian, Tim Kent to be the tour guide for our visit to these forts. He will discuss the design of each fort and their historical significance. You will learn about the famous commanders that were stationed at the forts as well as about the Battle of Mobile Bay and what happened to the crew of the USS Tecumseh.
The mild weather of November will make this a wonderful time to be at the family friendly, laid back resort town on Dauphin Island.  Come and learn about this historic island and make unforgettable new memories with your family.

Many of you have attended camps and classes we have taught.
This one is super exciting for me (Angela Broyles) and all of us at Historical Truth101.com because not only is it jammed packed with history, but we get Civil War historian, Tim Kent, as our tour guide. It is not everyday we can take our children on a historical tour with a historian and speaker that has the notoriety of Tim Kent.
Do you remember when I started telling you about Ronald Pettus, Butch Walker and what about the Gowan Pamphlet of Williamsburg VA?  Tim Kent is to Civil War history what these other historians are to their area of expertise.
I promise just hearing Tim Kent share his wealth of knowledge will be worth the trip.
