Everest Academy is sponsored by Everest Family Ministry in the Birmingham Metro Area. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Oct 25, Vestavia: 4th Annual Pumpkin Carving Party!

Calling all homeschoolers for a
Pumpkin Carving Party!

Date:  Thursday, October 25
Time:  4:00pm until dark
            (the park closes at dark)
Location:  McCallum Park
at the end of Rosemary Ln, Vestavia, AL

What to bring:
  • Your carving pumpkin, any tools needed and something to light your new creation for a pumpkin show before we leave.
  • Drinks for your family and a Halloween goody to share.
  • Chairs or blankets to use on the lawn
  • Flashlight in case we run late (there are no lights at the park)

Details: Parking is extremely limited, and you can NOT park on Rosemary Lane, per the Vestavia Hills Park Board. Please consider carpooling, if possible, to limit the number of cars. We will begin carving pumpkins at 4:00pm, and we will start lighting up all the pumpkins for a Pumpkin Show about 5:30pm. We will supply buckets to collect pumpkin remnants and "guts". All kiddos will receive a participation prize, and the parents will vote for a Pumpkin King & Queen for ages 12yo & up and a Pumpkin Prince & Princess for under 12yo.
This event is weather-dependent. If in doubt, please check this post or the Alabama Homeschooling page on Facebook for an update! If necessary, we will post a cancellation notice by noon.

Please RSVP:  Briana Moore ~ self-educated@earthlink.net so we will know how many people to expect. If we have a lot of interest, we may need to consider a different location due to the limited parking at McCallum.

Please review the Everest Academy Participation Policy before attending any of our events.
