The IDA Southern Branches of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia have partnered to bring you the first ever: 

Southern Regional IDA Conference

This two-day conference promises to be packed with learning opportunities in a variety of formats - three school visits, two keynote speakers,17 breakout sessions from which to select, many of the best vendors to visit, recent released videos, a well-stocked bookstore, and hands-on multisensory experiences.

Bena Kallick will welcome all to the conference on Friday with a keynote address, Habits of Mind: Dispositions to Empower Student Thinking, following her work with critical thinking and the Habits of Mind at 5:15pm.

Friday's events will include visits to three schools in the morning - The Schenck School, Atlanta Speech School, and The Howard School. The Exhibit Hall and Bookstore will open in the afternoon as well as presentations prior to the evening keynote.

Nancy Hennessy will begin Saturday's events with a keynote address entitled, Read Like a Detective: CSI is on the Case!, highlighting the skills required of our students to construct meaning from text.

Following the keynote session, three rounds of breakout sessions featuring speakers from across the region will be available as well as an excellent buffet style lunch.

This priceless wealth of information is available at an early bird registration IDA member rate of $170 (Friday and Saturday) and a non-member rate of $200 (Friday and Saturday).

Groups of five can receive a discount in addition to the early bird rate. Saturday only attendance rates are available as well. Early bird registration ends January 11, 2013.
