Civil War Living History will be offered on Thursday, February 28 and Friday, March 1, 2013. Students will have the opportunity to see demonstrations of Infantry, Calvary, and artillery. They will also have the opportunity to participate in drill activities and learn about civil war soldier’s flags and uniforms, what soldiers carried in the field, and how they lived. All grade levels are welcome. Program fee is $5.00 per person.
The Learning Center: Side Trails to History
While hiking our park and historic site, students will learn how free and slave workers from the Civil War lived and worked and about the resources that supported manufacturing in this area. The Learning Center experience includes stops at the Iron and Steel Museum of Alabama, the Historic Tannehill Furnaces, the Fowler House one room school, a Nature Trail, and concludes with a just-for-fun train ride. Program content is adaptable to meet the curriculum needs of students in grades 1-8. The Learning Center is offered from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays during the school year. Program fee is $5.00 per person.
