Everest Academy is sponsored by Everest Family Ministry in the Birmingham Metro Area. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Home School Families, Enjoy a Special Day at the Museums in Lagarde Park!
Anniston, AL- Anniston Museum of Natural History and Berman Museum of World History have set aside a day especially designed for home school educators and students. All home school visitors will receive the group discount Passport rate of $7/person for admission to both Museums. Or, if you only have time to visit one Museum, pay only $4/person at Anniston Museum or $3/person at Berman Museum. (Museum Members are free with valid Membership cards.)

It’s not just a discounted admission day. Also included in Home School Days is a very special live animal educational program. Plan your visit so you can be in the Anniston Museum Auditorium at 11am for Education Specialist Kevin Jenne’s presentation of Web of Life, one of our acclaimed Third Grade Outreach offerings. The program will include several live animals from the Museum’s collection. Before your visit, you may want to download the Teachers Guide that complements the Web of Life program, or any of the grade-level scavenger hunts for either Museum. Visitwww.annistonmuseum.org and www.bermanmuseum.org to explore all our educational resources. Another special opportunity for home school families will be the chance to take part in an educational Behind-the-Scenes tour at both Museums. The Collections Department, Berman Basement and Vault and the Live Animal Buildings are usually off limits to visitors, but on these two days, small groups will be able to take a guided tour of some of the unseen areas of the Museums. All home school students/children must be at least third grade level to participate in this tour, and must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The Museums require 1 adult per 4 students/children. Due to the nature of these tours and the types of areas that will be visited, tours will be limited to the first 20 visitors at each Museum, and no strollers will be allowed. The tours will fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-up sheets will be available at each Museum’s Admissions Desk beginning at 10am. Sign-up sheets will be removed once each tour reaches capacity for the day. 256-237-6766 or 256-237-6261 for more info.
