Wallace State Community College is seeking artist to participate in a showcase of local community artworks April 1st – April 13th as part of The 2013 Arts in April Week.

Exhibition Description:
Participants are encouraged to create artworks related to or inspired by this year’s theme of “Spring Folly”. Spring Folly is an exhibition which seeks to visually showcase the wonder, glory and fun of springtime. A visual arts entry must be an original drawing, painting, photograph, sculpture, collage, or computer-generated image. Whether an entry uses a variety of techniques or a simple approach, artworks will be judged primarily on how well the artist uses his or her artistic vision to explore and present their work. Artworks which do not relate to the theme of “Spring Folly” are still welcome to show in the exhibition. Younger participants are also invited to print, draw and color the WSCC’s Lion’s Mascot “Roary’s Spring Day” coloring sheet for non-juried showcase.

- Drawing K – Second Grade
- Painting Third – Fifth Grade
- Photography Sixth – Eighth Grade
- Ceramics/Sculpture Ninth – Twelfth Grade
- Computer Art Adult
- Multimedia
Eligibility:
Eligible artists are current WSCC students, employees, public and home school-aged children and adults in the WSCC service area. Each artist may individually submit a total of two artworks from any of the five media-categories listed above. Only original works of art will be accepted.
General Rules:
Each entry must be the work of only one individual. Any artwork submitted after the March 15, 2013 submission deadline date may not be able to be included in the exhibition. Any schools or art entities needing to make other submission arrangements should contact Adrian Scott –Art Dept. Faculty-256-352-8145.
Presentation:
All entries should be ready and suitable for display when submitted. Two dimensional artworks (drawings, paintings, photographs, or graphic prints) must be matted and/or framed to be accepted and properly hung. “Roary’s Spring Day” coloring sheets do not have to be matted or framed. Clay or ceramic artworks must be kiln-fired. Sculptures should be mounted on bases for presentation.
Notification and Prizes:
Exhibition award winners will be publicized March 22, 2013 at wallacestate.edu and at facebook.com/pages/Wallace-State-Community-College. Exhibition Reception and presentation of ribbon awards will be held in the Evelyn Burrows Fine and Performing Arts Center Lobby on Saturday, April 13, 2013 10:00AM -12:00PM. Award winners and the public are encouraged to attend.
