Creative Writing Workshop with author Robert Inman
March 4-March 7, 2013
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at writing? Maybe you don’t have aspirations as a best selling novelist, but have always wanted to learn more about writing as a hobby? If so, mark your calendar for March 4-7. The Pelham Public Library in cooperation with the Shelby County Arts Council is bringing award winning author Robert Inman to the Pelham Public Library.
Participants will have the opportunity for instruction in the full range of topics for writing fiction whether it be short stories or novels. Topics will include character and plot development as well as creating effective dialogue. Information about how to get works published will also be covered including publishing in electronic formats. Participants will share up to 15 pages of written materials to be critiqued by Mr. Inman prior to the workshop with suggestions for improvement.
During the workshop participants will be instructed in improving their work or in creating new work. There are two opportunities to participate. An “Early Bird Special” is being offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm for $79 per person limited to the first twenty people to register. The longer regular workshop will be offered Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm for $99 for the first twenty people to register. For more information please contact Barbara Roberts, 205-620-6419 or e-mail broberts@pelhamonline.com.
Registration will be accepted either at the Pelham Public Library or online at www.shelbycountyartscouncil.com by clicking on Robert Inman Writing Workshop. Registrations and manuscripts must be received by February 20. While in town Mr. Inman will also appear on March 6 from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at the gallery of the Shelby County Arts Council for a public reading of his latest book.
This program is provided in part by grants from SouthArts and the Alabama Humanities Foundation.
