Thank you for your interest in the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) 2013 Poster Contest. Where does your water shed? The amount of fresh water on earth is all we have. It is important to understand where the fresh water goes after a rain, after you empty the bathtub or use it to water your plants. We have to take care of our fresh water as it gets used over and over again. Everyone lives in a watershed. What is a watershed?
A watershed is an area of land that drains to a particular body of water such as a river or a lake. Rain or any type of precipitation that falls anywhere in that watershed eventually flows to a body of water. The water may travel over land as surface water or flow underground as groundwater. Look around your community or as you travel to see water traveling within a watershed.
The contest is open to public, private or home school students.
