Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

June 29, Bham: Avondale Park Bike Parade & Fishing Rodeo


June 29, 9 a.m.-Noon | Avondale Park will host a bicycle parade and a fishing rodeo for children. The Avondale Park pond will be stocked with hundreds of large catfish, and there will be awards for the largest fish caught and for the best decorated ride: bicycle, tricycle, scooter or wagon. Awards will be presented for the greatest distance for a watermelon seed spit, as well. There will be prize drawings every half-hour for valuable door prizes for all ages given by local businesses.Sponsors for the event are the Birmingham Park and Recreation Board, with Stanley Robinson coordinating; the Friends of Avondale Park, with Bethanne Hill, chairing the event; and the Avondale-Forest Park Merchants Association, represented by Richard Stewart. Bici Cooperative, whose members will offer adjustments and some repairs for the cyclists, will also offer prize vouchers for refurbished bicycles.Those participating in the Fishing Rodeo should bring a fishing pole or rod and reel with some bait.
