Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Never Smile Again by Tim Kent
After the loss of both Kentucky and Tennessee, Confederate General Albert Sidney Johnston has one last chance to save his reputation and his nation. He must destroy Federal General Ulysses S. Grant's army before he is reinforced by General Don Carlos Buell. Together the two Federal armies will outnumber Johnston's army by more than two to one. Confederate President Jefferson Davis has sent General Gustave Tout and Beauregard, the Hero of the Confederacy, to assist Johnston. Together, they must stop the Federal invasion before Mississippi and Alabama also fall to Union control. Never Smile Again takes you on the campaign from Corinth to Shiloh Church and beyond. This is the second book in the series by Civil War historian Tim Kent. A must read for any Civil War enthusiast.

Warrior Mountain Folklore by Butch Walker
Many years ago, Rickey Butch Walker took his tape recorder and camera and systematically began interviewing some of the oldest living descendants of the pioneer families of the Warrior Mountains of northwest Alabama. No price can be put on the stories that he recorded. He captured snapshots of Americana and family history that would have been lost forever. These historical sketches and photographs will be revered forever by the descendants of the families who lived on mountain farms in one of Alabama's most rugged back country. His down-to-earth style of writing is reminiscent of summer afternoons that I have spent in a front porch chair captivated and fascinated by listening to old timers telling of the old days and the old ways. My, the world has changed and maybe not for the better.
