Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Jefferson County: Homeschool Show Choir

Show Choir Experience for Home School students in the Jefferson County and immediate surrounding counties: If you have ever watched GLEE on television and wondered where all those talented people came from, then you have your answer, Show Choirs across America. Some of the best singers and dancers are in thousands of show choirs across the country. I am sure there are many wonderfully talented and self directed young people who are not in traditional schools who afford these young people such a group opportunity! The proposed group of 25 - 40 young people from ages 12 - 17 who have a love for singing and dancing as well as loving to travel and perform should audition to be a part of this group. I am looking to have classes twice a week in a local dance studio in Jefferson County from 10 AM - 1 PM before the studio's regular classes start. To start with there would be a two or three day workshop to jump start the group in the direction it needs to go. Musical styles will be Pop, Rock, Country, Broadway and any other commercial style music. The goal would be to produce a 20-25 minute musical performance completely choreographed and costumed that could be entered in show choir competitions around Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee as well as providing entertainment for civic and community organizations. I am suggesting a $50 a month fee for each individual that participates. There will be costume costs and choreography fees shared by all on an equal basis while learning routines. When competitions begin, the most affordable way of getting to and from will be considered and shared on an equal basis. The first workshops and month of rehearsals will be to learn the songs(with harmony) before adding choreography.
