Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Oct. 15, LaFayette: Jack O'Lantern Lane Field Trip

Hi All,

I did some research on nearby pumpkin patches, and I would like to plan a trip to Jack O'Lantern Lane for anyone who would like to go with us. I talked to the family that owns it, and after explaining that we are a homeschool group, she said they have lots of classroom type instruction they can do during the tour if we want it. They give a tour of the farm including the hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin to take home, a small animal petting zoo, corn grinding demonstration and lesson, classroom instruction if requested, inflatables and train ride which takes about 2 1/2 hours. (The train ride and inflatables are additional cost- see below for cost breakdown.)
The classroom instruction will be some general math and science problems about pumpkins- find the diameter, does it float, etc. If we have special requests of what to cover, they will accommodate us if they can.
