Come up to the Treehouse with the kids for Story Time the first Saturday of every month. After the story, make a craft that reflects the theme from the book.
Sept. 14, 9 am - 2 pm, Flutter and Flight Fest,
Experience the wonder of wings! Butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, and birds abound! Crafts, games, and educational activities! Fun for the whole family. In partnership with the Birmingham Audubon Society, Southern Museum of Flight, Birmingham Zoo and Alabama Wildlife Center.
Sept. 19, @ 6 pm - Full Harvest Moon Hike, $5/ $7
Native Americans named each full moon to capture the spirit of the season. Meet at the Ruffner Road gate on the Irondale side of the mountain. We will hike to the wetlands to enjoy the glow of the moon with a telescope (weather permitting) and light refreshments. Leashed dogs welcome. Moderate Hike. 2 Miles total.
Sept. 28 @ 10 am - Mine Hike, FREE
Celebrate Public Lands Day at Ruffner Mountain! Join Vulcan volunteer and mining history buff Gary Bostany and hike Ruffner Mountain's trails. View some of the mining relics, iron-ore crushers, and mine openings that visitors rarely get to see. Limited space. Reservations required.
