Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

A Message From Girl Scouts

After New Year’s Girl Scout Cookie season is the next reason to celebrate! Support a troop in your community by letting them set up a cookie booth for an hour or two at your business.

Did you know that when you buy Girl Scout cookies you help girls do things they never thought possible like travel, explore new ideas, and learn business skills?

Girl Scouts make the world a better place. Be a supporter of girls in our area as they learn money management, business ethics, people skills, goal setting and decision making. Find your cookies at girlscoutcookies.org.

There are many ways you can volunteer for Girl Scouts. Opportunities are flexible and the commitment is up to you. Here are three current opportunities:

1. Speak once or twice in 2014 about what you know.
2. Facilitate our award-winning programs including anti-bullying, self-esteem building and STEM, to name a few.
3. Work with adults only by training facilitators.

Girl Scouts make the world a better place. To be a supporter and to serve girls as a volunteer, contact Heather Pike at hpike@girlscoutsnca.org.

Once upon a time, girls could only be in Girl Scouts if they joined a troop. Now we have independent Girl Scouts who also have unlimited access to our Pathway opportunities. Visitgirlscoutsnca.org to find out more!

For $15 any girl, anywhere in North-Central Alabama, can be a Girl Scout. Of course we still encourage troops, but this is a great way for older girls especially to fit our travel, community service, events and camping experiences into their busy schedules.

Girl Scouts make the world a better place. To be a supporter and to learn more about membership, contact Tanika Rice at trice@girlscoutsnca.org or Hannah Wallace athwallace@girlscoutsnca.org

Interested in a Hunger Games tournament? Does a Pinterest Party sound like fun? Maybe you would enjoy going to Dauphin Island and learning about Marine Biology or just strolling through the Birmingham Zoo.

These are just a few Girl Scout Pathway opportunities offered to girls in 36 counties across North-Central Alabama. At the last zoo event, more than 1,000 girls enjoyed this learning experience!

We need opportunities locally that only you can provide. Consider opening the doors to your business, church, school, etc., for an event, series or troop meeting.

Girl Scouts make the world a better place. To be a supporter and to open the mind of a child to possibilities through programs, please contact Cortnie Draper at cdraper@girlscoutsnca.org.
