Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

The Red Barn is now accepting registrations for our 2014 summer camps! We've got all kinds of fun planned, and we hope we'll see both our current students and some new friends at the barn this summer.

  • Registration for camp must be completed no later than two weeks prior to the camp date.All students must complete and submit a health history form before they can be enrolled. This form is available on The Red Barn's website (www.theredbarn.org) under the Documents tab. You may also be asked to come to the barn for a tour and assessment before being allowed to attend.
  • A maximum of ten campers will be enrolled in each camp.
  • All campers need to wear closed toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty. All campers must bring a sack lunch.
  • All camps are inclusive and open to students with or without special needs unless otherwise noted. See the description for each camp for more information.
  • There is no riding in any of The Red Barn's summer camps (except for Pattern Perfect), but campers will work with our wonderful horses.
CAMP SCHEDULE 
  • Saturday, June 14th - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Giddy Up and Go A great introduction to horses for younger children. Learn how to safely work with and take care of horses. This camp also includes an arts and crafts session with folk artist SheShe. AGES 6-10 $40
  • Monday, June 16th and Tuesday, June 17th - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. each day: The Horse Through Art This two day camp is perfect for aspiring artists. Campers will work with folk artist SheShe over two days and practice painting, sculpting, and creating horse art. AGES 9-14 $40 (includes both days)
  • Friday, June 20th - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Sibling Camp This camp is open only to siblings of current Red Barn students. Ever curious about all the things your brother or sister does when they come to the barn? This is your chance to spend a fun day at the barn and find out! $40
  • Wednesday, June 25th - 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: River Ecology Come learn more about the Little Cahaba River that runs along The Red Barn's property. We'll discuss the macro-invertebrates that live in the river, the ecology of the watershed, and we might just go fishing. AGES 9-14 $30
  • Wednesday, June 25th - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Giddy Up and Go - Special Needs This session of Giddy Up and Go is for special needs students only. Current special needs students at The Red Barn interested in attending must be riding at Level 2 or lower. Campers will learn the basics of working with and caring for horses. This camp also includes an arts and crafts session with folk artist SheShe. $40
  • Saturday, June 28th - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Giddy Up and Go A great introduction to horses for younger children. Learn how to safely work with and take care of horses. This camp also includes an arts and crafts session with folk artist SheShe. AGES 6-10 $40
  • Tuesday, July 8th - 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Nicker, Snort, and Whinny Campers will learn about horse communication and behavior, including how to interpret a horse's body language and understanding the function of the herd. AGES 9-14 $30
  • Wednesday, July 9th - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Giddy Up and Go A great introduction to horses for younger children. Learn how to safely work with and take care of horses. This camp also includes an arts and crafts session with folk artist SheShe. AGES 6-10 $40
  • Friday, July 11th - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Picture Perfect Combine your interests in art and horses in this camp. Learn about how to best photograph horses and practice by taking pictures of our horses and property. This camp also includes an arts and crafts session with folk artist SheShe. Campers must bring their own digital camera. AGES 9-14 $40
  • Saturday, July 12th - 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Horse Makeover Spend a day making our horses even more beautiful! You'll get to bathe a horse, learn how to braid their manes and tails, and show groom them. AGES 6-12 $30
  • Wednesday, July 16th - 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Pattern Perfect This camp is open only to current Red Barn students riding at Level 4 or above. Campers will work with our riding instructors on their patterns in a clinic type format. $30
  • Saturday, July 19th - 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: River Ecology Come learn more about the Little Cahaba River that runs along The Red Barn's property. We'll discuss the macro-invertebrates that live in the river, the ecology of the watershed, and we might just go fishing. AGES 9-14 $30

  • Saturday, July 26th - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Model Horse Show If you've ever wanted to know what a horse show is like, this is the perfect camp! Learn how the horses are judged and about showmanship. This camp also includes an arts and crafts session with folk artist SheShe. $40
  • Wednesday, July 30th - 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: From the Ground Up This camp is open only to current Red Barn students riding at Level 3 and up. Campers will work with horses in the round pen and learn how to do a join up. AGES 9-14 $30
