Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

FULL!!! August 26 (Deadline August 18), Bham: Flight Simulator Lab & Tour Field Trip

August 26 (Deadline August 18)
Flight Simulator Lab & Tour
Southern Museum of Flight
10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Come join us for some great fun and learning at the Southern Museum of Flight Tour. We will be digging into Science with the "Just Plane Science Tour" for Grades K-12. Forces of Flight and Laws of Motion: Newton’s Laws, lift, weight, thrust and drag. Your students will see real life applications of these fundamental properties of aerodynamics and physics. Our Aviation experts will explain them in a way that makes sense to classes of any age group.

Cost is $6.00 per person. The Southern Museum of Flight recognizes that Homeschool parents are teachers, and teachers are admitted free :) Just one parent per family. Any additional adults per family must pay the $6 fee.

After the tour, we will break for lunch. The Southern Museum of Flight has great facilities for students to eat their Brown Bag lunch both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting.

When we are finished with lunch, the next part of our visit will be for 2nd grade and up. The Soar High Center is a Flight Simulator Lab that can accommodate 15 flight crews (30 students). The class is an additional $7 per person and an additional 1 hour and 30 mins to our visit. Their flight instructors are not only great “Virtual” pilots, several have also instructed both military and civilian flight students in real life. They will take students through ground school: principles of flight, map reading, cockpit instrumentation and a preflight briefing on the route of flight and flight controls familiarization. Then your students will “take flight”, navigate to an airport and land the aircraft.

So the next part of the visit if you wish to participate is an additional $7.00 per student and it is only for 2nd grade and up. It is also an additional hour and a half. There is only space for 30 students. There is no limit for the tour but I do need a head count so please RSVP how many (as well as ages) for the tour and then how many for the flight lab. I will post when the flight lab gets full.

The tour starts at 10:00, so please be there no later than 9:45. It is going to be a fun but full day so we want to get started on time :)

If you would like to join us, please RSVP by August 18th. I will need your RSVP and your payment by no later than August 18th so that I can give them a head count for both the tour and the Flight Sim Lab. You can mail a check payable to me (Jennifer Bohan to 5378 Balboa Ave, Pinson, AL 35126) or you can send your payment paypal at jenbohan77@gmail.com. When paying via Paypal, please click on "sending money to friends or family" so I do not have to pay any fees.
