Student Spotlight - Kimberlin Murray
Kimberlin Murray completed her high school education in December 2012 through Everest Academy. She had just turned 16 years-old. Kimberlin went on to enroll in Wallace Community College in Dothan, AL majoring in Cosmetology. It has long been her dream to be a make-up artist and hair designer/colorist. To stream-line the enrollment process into college, Kimberlin decided to also take the G.E.D. test -- a lot less questions asked, especially at her young age. During her time at Wallace, she applied for and was awarded two foundation scholarships in addition to a G.E.D. scholarship. Those three scholarships along with Pell Grant made a big difference in her being able to complete her coursework on time. Today, Kimberlin is 17 years old, is graduated from Wallace, has her own apartment, has passed the written portion of her state boards, is preparing for her practical exam, and is working at a leading Aveda spa in Alabama. She is living her dream in the cosmetic arts industry now with plans to return to college for a degree in business in the future.
