Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Sep. 4, Bham & Auburn: FREE Preview & Lecture on "The Roosevelts: An Intimate History"

Greetings! Alabama Public Television is pleased to invite all community members, especially teachers, to attend a free preview and lecture event on September 4 at 6:00 PM. During the event, we will be previewing Ken Burns' upcoming PBS series, The Roosevelts: An Intimate History. Following the preview, there will be a presentation by a Roosevelt scholar who will speak about the lasting impact of the three Roosevelts - Theodore, Eleanor and Franklin – in and across Alabama. Also, at the Birmingham event (only) Bobby Horton, Birmingham’s own award-winning musician, music historian, and long-time collaborator with Ken Burns will share comments and information about his work on this film.

To secure a free seat for one of the two simultaneous events that take place in Birmingham or in Auburn visit The Roosevelts page on Alabama Public Television’s website to print your invitation.

This event is free to the public due to the support of partner organizations such as Alabama Humanities Foundation, the Alabama School of Fine Arts and Auburn University.

When the series launches on September 14, check APT’s educator page for Alabama-specific educational resources that are immediately useable in social studies classrooms.Hope to see you at one of these events!
