Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Fall, Huntsville: Homeschool Golf Team

The Crusaders Home School Golf Team will begin their inaugural season in the fall of 2014.

This Home School Golf program is a 10 week program designed to satisfy state and local home school physical education requirements for middle school and high school programs. Parents are encouraged to verify that the program will meet the specific requirements of their particular home school program.

The Crusaders will be open to children in the ages of 5th through 12th grade.

The Crusaders are coached by Matt Gibson. Matt is a scratch golfer with over 25 (plus) years experience coaching youth sports. Matt held the unofficial world record for “Most Holes of Golf Played in a Day,” when he played 516 holes for a local charity.

Matt has organized numerous celebrity golf events for The Shaun Alexander  Foundation, The Downtown Rescue Mission, and the George Teague and Friends Foundation.

Matt is youth protection certified through Whitesburg Baptist Church Upward Programs where he has  coached Football, Basketball, and Soccer since 2001.

In 2007-2008, Matt was the volunteer golf coach for the Huntsville High Girls Golf Team that won the 2008 District Tournament.

Matt is a dedicated Christian, husband, and father.  He is married to the former Tracey Stevens of Huntsville, they have three children, and are active members of Whitesburg Baptist Church and their community.

He and his family are affiliated with The Way Home Christian School.

This fall the Crusaders will have 10 weekly, one hour, golf practices where students will learn the basics of the game of golf from full-swing, putting and chipping, to course management.

The cost for the one hour sessions will be $25 per week, or $200 per season (fall, spring, summer.) There will be 2 sites, and days available for students; each limited to 10 students. One site is the Hampton Cove Driving Range confirmed the other will be at the Becky Pierce Municipal Range pending final approval on Airport Road in Huntsville.

Those interested in participating need to contact Matt Gibson at 256-261-5868, or email him at Mgibson41@gmail.com.

The fall schedule will begin the week of September 22, 2014. The long-range plan for the Crusaders is to establish a core group of Home Schooling golfers to organize and compete in tournaments through-out the North Alabama area.
