Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Sept. 27, Guntersville: Trail of Tears

9 am -- September 27th marks the 176th anniversary of the Trail of Tears, Lake Guntersville State Park, the Alabama Chapter of the Trail of Tears Association, and other partners are hosting a special event at Lake Guntersville State Park. Schedule of Events 9:00 a.m. A re-telling of Trail of Tears by John Stanton. Join John as he tells the story of what it was like to walk the Trail of Tears. • 9:30 a.m. Commemorative Walk • 10:00 a.m. Native American activities such as “Chunky Stones” and “Atlatl” throwing. Meet at the Trail of Tears picnic area. • 11:00 a.m. Don Wells author of “The Mystery of the Trees.” (Lunch will be on your own limited seating.) • 1:00 p.m. “Cherokee Plants” presented by Naturalist Ila Hatter.
