Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Leeds Library Newsletter

Greetings from the Leeds Library! Happy New Year to all! We have an exciting new year for everyone who visits the library beginning with our usual Tot Time held every first and third Tuesday of each month. Here, your preschooler will hear stories and songs and take home a craft to complete with an adult. Moms, Grandmas, and even some grandparents will enjoy spending this special half hour with a little one as they learn to appreciate stories and get to know new friends. It’s also an opportunity for adults to exchange ideas.

Tutoring
Leeds High School National Honor Society students are generously giving their time to help others on Monday and Thursdays from 3:30 to 7:00. These students tutor others in all subjects to help them improve their school work. If you have a student who is struggling, bring them to the library for help. We also have a ‘Homework Help’ online program to help grades K through college should it be needed. This is a free opportunity for all!

Adult Crafts takes place once a month at our craft annex……..8014 Parkway Drive……..just down the street from the library. The class always begins at 10:00 and various crafts are made to take home and enjoy. This is a free program offered by the library. Lots of fun is had by all! Call 699-5962
to find out when the next class is!

Library Building Fund
If you haven’t had a chance to buy a ticket to win the beautiful table runner made by Elizabeth McCormick, time is running out! The drawing will be held at the end of this month! Liz has generously given her time and talent to make this yo-yo table runner. All ticket sales will be deposited into the Library Building Fund. You can find a picture of it on our Facebook page.  We are slowly but surely building up the Library Building Fund through the program Speak-Easy Art. This is very much like the commercial Sips ‘N’ Strokes that many seem to enjoy. From 6:30 to 9:00 on the last Monday of the month, we paint. It’s a wonderful way to explore the art skills you never knew you had and to make new friends or enjoy time with old friends. The cost is $20.00 and all materials are supplied. Step by step instruction is given and everyone leaves with a masterpiece! Won’t you join us? Call 699-5962 and leave your name and phone number. That way, enough canvases can be set up and you can be called if anything changes with the time or date.

Lego Mania!
Is an ongoing program for students after school. From 4:00-5:00, students can play, build and create structures. This month, Lego Mania! will take place on Tuesday, January 27th. It’s amazing to see the creativity of children young and old!

Valentine's
Here’s a little preview for February! The library always sets out paper, Valentines, crayons, stickers and other art supplies for patrons to make Valentines for Children’s Hospital and Valentines for the veterans. Here’s hoping you will help us to send more Valentines to these 2 groups than ever before! Children in the hospital can’t attend their school parties and love to get the Valentines sent to them. Veterans are also stuck in the hospital or in homes where they may be forgotten on this special day
of showing love. So come in, make some Valentines and we will see that they go to the right group! What a great way to show your appreciation to a veteran!

That’s all for now! See you at the Leeds Library!
