Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

April 24, Hoover: Moss Rock Field Trip

April 24 at noon

Come enjoy the start of spring and make some new friends!

Meeting at Moss Rock Preserve in Hoover.
Bring a picnic lunch and your hammocks or blankets, plan to hang out and chat while the kids wade in the creek and climb on the boulders at the park.  There are trails and plenty of nooks and crannies for exploring, kids of all ages will have fun here, so bring your toddlers and your teens!

The creek where we will be is shallow, no deep spots to fall in!  Bring a towel, we'll flip some rocks and see what we can find. The park itself is over 300 acres with 10 miles of trails. We will set up near the parking area,  you can explore on your own or just hang out and chat with other homeschoolers.  Leashed dogs are allowed at the park.

There are a couple restaurants in the area, but no facilities at the park itself.

We will reschedule for weather, meet up in the parking area,  I will be in a gold minivan with an Everest sign.

Email me at roamschool@gmail.com by the 17th to let me know you are coming.  I will send out any last minute info by the 18th as well as my cell number for emergencies.

Looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Hey guys! Moss Rock is still a go today at noon! I am getting loads of the same questions, so here goes: We will meet at the parking area off the roundabout. There are 2, the one with parking has a sign pointing the way.
I will be in a gold mininvan with an Everest sign in hand until a little after noon, then we will walk down the trail and set up hammocks or blankets near the creek. If you arrive late, just head down the trail to the left of the parking area and take the first turn down the hill. The creek is at the bottom of the hill and is not far at all.
There are many huge rocks and a waterfall/creek for playing nearby. The plan is to just hang out and chat and climb and play as long as you'd like. There are miles of hiking trails, if you want to explore, feel free!
There are restaurants across the roundabout from the parking area, but no bathrooms at the park itself.
You will need lunch or snacks, drinks, blanket or hammocks, camera, towel if you want to wade.
If you have not signed up, but want to come, come on!
See you soon!

Open to all homeschoolers.  Please review the Everest Academy Participation Policy before attending any of our events.
