Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Ages 3-12 $10 for zoo (plus $5 if you want to also tour the wildlife museum)
Ages 13-64 $14 (plus $6 if tour museum also)
Ages 65+ $12 ($6)
^the above admission prices are to be paid the day of the trip.

If we would like an actual guided tour it is an additional $225 for a group of up to 30 which has to be paid in one lump sum. Therefore, I need to know who would like the the tour...and depending on how many we have, we may all pay an extra fee... if we have 25 we only pay $10...if we have 30, $7.50 However if we have more than 30 we'd need to split into two groups possibly. So I need everyone to comment and let me know. If I have enough respond, I will post the extra amount and you can paypal it to me prior to the trip (by that Thursday before) or give me cash that morning. The entire tour takes about an hour and 1/2 with several benches and shaded spots along the way to rest and lots of great photo ops. (The Otter pool is my fav!)

I also would NOT be opposed to reserving the larger covered shelter near the playground from 9am to noon for our group to eat lunch together in shade... that is an extra $65 but if we have 30 people that is just a few bucks. Again please post or email your opinion. This would be if you bring your own picnic lunch/coolers! Otherwise, if you are buying food (hotdogs, chicken, fries, etc) you must eat it in the Overlook Cafe area. Here is the link to the menu with prices: http://www.montgomeryzoo.com/New%20Overlook%20Cafe%20menu_06062013.pdf Or you could just get an ice cream or treat in the afternoon there.

This is an Everest sponsored event but open to everyone.

The zoo opens at 9am and we usually stay until at least after lunch...so again, I will post details but you can pack a lunch or purchase it in their cafe. They close at 5pm but we never stay that late...allow for 2 hour drive from here to the zoo and we can carpool, just post your vehicle and how many seats are available.

Again, schedule would be 9am begin tour... 10:30-11 we could go ahead and rest and eat lunch, then take the museum tour (inside, cooler for the afternoon) and also do any extra fun stuff like train rides or paddle boats. Here is the extra info for prices on those things:

Train Rides $3/each
Giraffe Encounter (feeding) $3/each
Pedal Boat Rides $10 per boat (MUST be 40in tall...includes 30 minutes for ONE adult and UP TO THREE kid riders per boat...we might actually do this for the first time)
Zoofari Skylift Rides $4/each ride (one per guest) riders must be 40 in tall to ride WITHOUT an adult, 32in to ride WITH an adult)
Parakeet Feed Sticks $2 per stick
Petting zoo animal Feed bags $2 per bag
Other feed for otters or fish in designated areas .50
(^all the above pay the day of)

If by chance we get way more than 30, we can split into two groups and one do the zoo tour while the other one does the museum and vice verse....Is this enough info for you??? :) Well if not, please feel free to email Amanda
