Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

May 22 (Deadline May 18), Troy: Camp Butter & Eggs

REMINDER: You need to pay the online deposit ($10) for the Camp Butter & Egg field trip by NEXT MONDAY (May 18). Also, please let me know if you would like to order a lunch from Camp Butter & Egg. I will need to give them the number of lunches to prepare by next Monday as well. Some schools will be out for summer by the 22nd. If you have public school friends or family that you would like to bring, please feel free to do so! Just make sure to let me know and to register/deposit by Monday (18th)!!!! If you have any questions, please let me know! I am looking forward to seeing you all there!

Good news! We have 42 participants, and the date is confirmed. My family is so excited about this trip! While talking with Susan from Camp Butter and Egg, we decided it would be best if everyone paid a $10 deposit (online) by the Monday prior to our field trip (May 18). By doing it this way, everyone will have made an investment, and it will discourage "no shows". It is very important that everyone who signs up actually shows up because our numbers determine our price, and they bring in staff based on our numbers.  

Who: Activities are specifically geared toward two groups, ages 5-8 and 9 and up
Children Under 5 - Susan from Camp Butter & Egg wanted me to clarify that children under 5 WILL NOT be able to participate in activities and very close supervision is required, as there is a lake, woods, and many opportunities for danger. She recommends that small children do not attend, as it will be a long day outdoors; however, if you are unable to obtain childcare, they are welcome as long as they are under close supervision.

Costs:  

  • $29 per participating child
  • There is no charge for adult chaperones, but adults are welcome to participate in the morning adventure package for $22.  
  • Lunch:  I wanted to remind you that you can either bring your own lunch or order lunch from them. It includes a hamburger, chips, drink, and a cookie for $6. Details: The trip is set for May 22nd. Cost includes a children’s adventure package in the morning and a team building and games session for the afternoon. For older children (9 and up), the adventure package consists of a giant swing, climbing wall, zip line course, and double zip line. For younger children (5-8), it consists of a fun ropes challenge course. For the afternoon, older elementary age students with teens will work together on more complex teambuilding initiatives, while the younger children will participate in group activities designed to encourage character building (being positive, trying new things, being creative, helping others, etc.)

The following will be sent to you when you RSVP:

  • Link to make deposit (due by May 18) - You will pay the REMAINDER of your participant fee when you arrive at Camp Butter & Egg. Your deposit is $10 regardless of the number of participants you will be bringing with you. To clarify, it is a $10 deposit PER FAMILY, and the $10 will be deducted from your total fee.  You must make the deposit to hold your space.  
  • Hold Harmless Agreement  - EACH CHILD will need to submit this form upon arrival. Please print, sign, and bring the document with you on May 22nd. If you are bringing a child that does not belong to you, please remember to get their parent’s signature on this form or they will not be able to participate. Adults who participate in recreation will sign a waiver on site.
