Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Everest Academy CampSchool 2015

When: Sunday, May 3, 1:00pm - Monday, May 4, 2015, 7:00pm
Optional: Monday, May 4, 7:00pm - Tues, May 5, 2015, 9:00am - just B&B, no activities
Option for Teens only: High School/College Prep Mon (7-9pm) & Tues college visits (10am-3pm)

Who: Families of all ages and parents/guardians.  Open to all homeschoolers regardless of residence or school covering.

Where: YMCA Camp Chandler, located on Lake Jordan in Wetumpka, AL   Climate-controlled family rooms with bunk beds plus male and female bunk rooms, based on registrations (first come, first served!).  BYO linens for twin beds.  This camp is very handicap-accessible.

What:  CampSchool specifics will be determined by parent survey and by ages of students who register, but we will take advantage of many of their Outdoor Classroom offerings.   Basically PK will have supervised play time with bouncy activities, walks, crafts, etc.   K-12th will be broken into appropriate age groups and have classes in environmental topics such as aquatic study & animal study plus outdoor adventures such as ropes course & kayaking.  Water play for all ages is weather-dependent.   Parents may observe &/or participate, but are expected to remain with their youngest child/ren.    

For Teens: Students approximately 7th grade & up will meet on Monday evening to talk about high school & college topics including what to expect on a college visit.  On Tuesday, we will visit Auburn University Montgomery and Faulkner University. You will learn that there is more to higher education in the state of Alabama than AU & UA!   Parents are welcome to join us, but younger children may not be left unsupervised.

Cost Includes: Classes/Activities, Hot Meals, lodging; payment in full is DUE 4/20
Sun-Mon: all classes, 1 night, 4 hot meals: dinner Sun, Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner Monday
     Sun-Mon: $70 per K-12 camper, $40 per adult, $40 per ages 3-5; no charge under age 3
Mon night add-on: 1 night, 1 meal (breakfast), no additional programs
    Mon-Tue, “B&B”: $15 per ages 3-adult; no charge under age 3
Tues, May 5: optional bag lunch $5 per lunch
Teen/College Prep: $10 includes Monday night supplies; 2 college visits (free) & lunch Tues
T-shirt: Exclusive CampSchool 2015 T-shirt $10 in youth & adult sizes by minimum pre-order only

Younger students can spend the night Monday, & parents can take them to visit the Montgomery Zoo or other local attractions on Tuesday.   College prep students may attend college visits without a parent with prior permission.   Parent should plan to drive student to AUM & pick up from Faulkner.   Mid-day transportation is available on a first-come basis.
