Student Spotlight - Andrew Russell
Andrew Russell will complete his homeschool education through Everest Academy in June of 2015. This is our ninth year of homeschooling him and his brother John. It has been a long road of homeschooling through three different states but one I wouldn't change for anything. When we moved to Birmingham in September of 2011, Andrew was starting his freshman year of high school. As you can imagine, it was hard to move to a state where we didn't know a lot of people, but in the last 3 1/2 years, Birmingham has become home. Along with his schoolwork, Andrew has enjoyed having the chance to bowl and the chance to play in the Young Men's Baseball League of Hoover (a recreational baseball league for high school students). What has meant the most to him though and the most to our family is finding our church, Crossbridge Church of Christ. The youth group is a combination of homeschooled, private schooled, and public schooled students who share Jesus' love with all who come into their midst. Through this youth group, he has had the opportunity to travel, most notably hiking two different parts of the Appalachian Trail in the past year. After receiving scholarship offers from both of the schools he applied to, he will be attending Faulkner University in the fall with a major of sports management.
Way to go Andrew! We are very proud of you!!!!
