Tube Floats
Saturday, July 25th and Saturday, August 29th
Get relief from the summer heat on the beautiful Locust Fork River in any kind of floating device you want to bring. This is a fun, lazy float with lots to see along the banks of the river.
To join us, meet at Tonka Shell Station at 9:30 am in Cleveland, AL (Hwy 79 and 160) and we'll caravan to the put-in site.
Bring: high socks, sun screen, river shoes and swimsuit, insect repellant, a sun hat suitable for the water, a bag lunch and something to drink. Bring your float inflated or a way to inflate it at the put-in site.
There's a short hike through poision ivy to the river. (Generally a good washing in the river gets rid of the poison ivy -- but no guarantees.) We will be on the river one to two hours, depending on the swiftness of the river. If the water is up, there will be some low-level rapids at the end.
After the float we will lunch in a pavillion at the take-out site. The float and lunch will last about 3 to 3-1/2 hours.
Registration limited to 25 people. These trips are free of charge, but donations are always welcome (see below).
