Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Sep. 8, 2015, Bham: Homeschool Girls' Synchronized Swimming

Dear Home School parents,

My name is Dollie Grover Brice and I have been teaching at Samford University for many years.  I have run a Summer Swimming Program for 37 years.  I teach fitness, dance, swimming and First Aid-CPR/AED.  One of my favorite things to teach is synchronized swimming. While I was an undergraduate at Samford University, we went to international competition for synchronized swimming.   What I would like to do is to offer your home schooled girl children synchronized swimming.    Here are some of the ideas that I have, which could be subjected to change with your input:

*  Girls must be at least 10 years old and have the equivalent of passing Level 3 of the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program.
*  I will teach this class on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 1 hour each day between the hours of 1-2:30.
*  I must have 10 girls to teach the class.
*  I will not take any more than 15 girls.
*  If too many girls are interested, I may have to evaluate the girls and choose the most skilled girls.
*  We will begin on Sept. 8, 2015.
*  The cost will be $100 per month, payable at the beginning of the month.
*  I do not intend to make this a synchronized swimming competition team, but I may if enough parents want to do this.
*  I am hoping that this will fulfill some of your required Physical Education component.

I am hoping that this will be a good choice that you can make for your girls.  Many times, children do competition swimming and get burned out.   I want this to be something that your girls will enjoy.  It is so much fun!!
Please let me know if you have any questions about this.  If you are interested you can contact me at dgbrice@samford.edu.

Thank you for your consideration of this program.
