Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Oct. 14, 2015 (Deadline Oct. 12) Madison: Nature Hike and Pumpkin Tie Dye Shirts

Nature Hike and Pumpkin Tie Dye Shirts

Join us on Wednesday, October 14th, at the Madison County Nature Preserve

Fall colors, around the lake, should be at their peak, according to the caretakers up there.

We have the pavilion reserved from noon to five as a home base to just come and go as you please.  Kari will be at the pavilion, with tie dye materials, from 1-2.

Nature Hike - This is at your leisure and not a guided or group hike.
You can walk around the lake at any time you would like. With little ones, allow about an hour and fifteen minutes to go around the lake. They recently added a new school house setting, with a chalk board, so that might slow little ones down a bit. Jogging strollers can likely handle the trail, but you may struggle to get it over roots here and there. Be sure to bring drinking water for your hike.

The sunset should be at about 6:30 that day.

You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and/or dinner to enjoy at the picnic tables there.

Tie Dye:
Kari will be at the pavilion from 1:00 - 2:00 to tie dye.  If you would like to participate in the tie dying activity, please bring rubber bands, a T-shirt, and a bag to carry it home in for each shirt you would like to do.

If you would like rubber gloves to protect your  hands from the dye, please bring them. If you would like any colors other than purple, orange, green, or black, please bring it prepared to use and in a bottle to apply it.

Kari will bring a water bucket to get shirts wet prior to dying.  Kari will bring purple, orange, green and black dye and bottles for application.

RSVP:  Please RSVP to Kari either by text at 505-917-5252 or on the Facebook event at HSVHomeschool.

This is an Everest Academy Event but open to all homeschoolers.  Please read the Everest Academy Participation Policy before you RSVP for this event. Thank you!
