Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Feb. 2016 (Registration starts Nov. 5, 2015): Inventing the Future with InventionX (Grades 5 - 12)

~Note from Deb - This info is FYI.  For more info, please contact the organization directly.

Hi Deb,

My apologies for this out of the blue email, I'm reaching out to you because I would like to introduce a new problem-solving, STEM education program to homeschool networks, and I'm not sure the best way to get the information out. We've created programs with the National Science Foundation, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, US Senator Offices, and numerous foundations across the country. I think this program is uniquely suited for home school groups and I always feel that in the education world, people sometimes forget about the great homeschool networks that are out there along with the formal schooling environments.

On November 5th, we're opening registration for the first season of the InventionX Cup (www.inventionx.org) - a series of STEM-based invention challenges for students in 5-12th grade. Official Challenges will begin in February. The InventionX 5-step invention process can be either a Do-it-Yourself model, or an instructed workshop brought in for students. Through the InventionX Cup, students can submit their solutions to the series of online challenges in the spring that provide opportunities for national recognition and awards. The top teams will be brought to Silicon Valley to participate in the Invention Academy - an in-depth multi-day educational experience where students connect with inventors, engineers, and entrepreneurs leading the way in creating new technologies to make the world a better place.

It would be great to help home school students get involved in the InventionX Cup. Is there a good way to get information out to parents in your network, or work with you to setup a program for your students? I've included a short written notice about the opportunity at the end of this message if there is an easy way to forward the information.

Thank you for your time and advice,

Through InventionX, students join a community of young innovators and have the opportunity to showcase their skills inventing solutions for tomorrow. Our custom-designed 5-step problem-solving framework guides students through the process of applying their science, technology, engineering, and math knowledge to real-world problems. We hope you will join the young inventor’s revolution with InventionX today.

Register for the Inaugural Season of InventionX! Opening November 5th
Get a head start on the inaugural season of the InventionX Cup! Be one of the first teams to register and receive all materials for free! As a registered team (1 to 5 students), you will be presented with a series of 9 online Invention Challenges between February and May 2016. Teams upload their inventions solving these challenges online in the form of a written description and video to compete for over $20,000 in awards including scholarships to attend the “Invention Academy” in Silicon Valley during the summer of 2016.
