Please note that the info below is for the 2015/2016 school year. The schedule for the 2016/2017 school year has not yet been decided.
Precious Freeman is leading this amazing new communication forum for homeschool kids. These sessions will teach children how to read social cues and necessary tools for effective communicating. "We are going to call it "Cupcakes and Convo!". For now, let's try once per month. Each time the children get together, we will have one main topic of conversation. We will let them know in advance. Then, we will get them together around my workstation and let the conversation begin. They will learn how to add value to conversations which a lot of times is like double Dutch because you've got to find the perfect time to jump in. It will have some awkward moments and a few silent ones, BUT over time it will get easier :) "

For those who do not know her, Precious is an entrepreneur who's company manages the esteemed Carver Museum (which we will also be planning a separate field trip to) as well as the Murals in downtown Dothan. Connie 's review of the first month's session: "Omgoodness y'all! We went to Cupcakes and Convo today and the kids really enjoyed it! It did take them outta their comfort zone but let's face it having a conversation with someone u don't know can be a little uncomfortable even for us adults. They are learning to take cues in a conversation, making eye contact, thinking on the spot and leaving that person with the best impression of u so they will always remember u. Which I know as well as u do that in this world it's not what u know it's who u know! I really think this is gonna help the kids not feel so awkward and uncomfortable when meeting new people. Hope to see y'all next time!" So please let us know if you will attend so Precious can plan accordingly.
