Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Nov. 24, 2015 (Deadline Nov. 22) Headland: Todd Syrup Farm Field Trip

The Todd Family spends all year nurturing its patch of beautiful green sugar cane. In the Fall, the cane is stripped (removing the leaves) and topped, then carefully cut down. After running through a roller press mill, the extracted juice is filtered. Some is bottled for drinking, but most is cooked into our delicious golden syrup products.

What: We will meet at Todd Farms in Headland off Hwy 431 on Tuesday November 24 at 8 am to begin the tour. However if you would like to join some of us for breakfast just before, their restaurant opens at 7. See the menu and prices at www.toddfarms.com.  You can also stay and enjoy lunch there after the tour. The whole process including the tour lasts until noon. Feel free to leave earlier if need be. Cost is $2 per person mainly as a donation to the museum. Can't beat that! I've heard great things about this tour, and the family is just super nice. All ages welcome. If we have more than 25, we may need to split into 2 groups. This is the last week of the season so don't miss it! They also have a great gift shop with all kinds of goodies. If you want to bring a goodie like a hotdog bun to feed Powder the mule, it might coax him over to the fence for a pet. (The other donkey is in Brundidge for harness training).

When: Tuesday November 24, 2015 at 8 am to noon. Breakfast available before or lunch available after. See website for pricing.

Who: all ages. $2 per person. All homeschoolers.

Where:
19326 US Highway 431 S
Headland, AL 36345

Contact: Amanda Martin at mandamama@gmail.com or 334-464-2162.  Please RSVP by Nov. 22 .  If we have more than 25, we will need to split into two groups or possibly two days.
