Color My World Tour at the Birmingham Museum of Art
Where: Birmingham Museum of Art
2000 Rev. Abraham Woods, Jr. Blvd
Birmingham, AL 35203
When: October 14th 11:00am to 1:00pm. Please plan to arrive no later than 10:45 so that you can check in with me and we can start our tour promptly at 11:00.
Details:Throughout history and across cultures, there is a common “language of art” that makes up every artwork. Learn the lingo and see how these elements of art – line, color, light and shadow, pattern, texture, and shape – have been used by artists over the centuries. These elements, along with a little imagination, have helped artists create masterpieces that have stood the tests of time. Discover how the elements of art have developed from the pre-Renaissance to today. After the tour we will be attending an add on studio session called The Private Eye: Focus on close scientific observation, descriptive language, drawing, and poetic writing using The Private Eye materials. Use a jeweler’s loupe to look at your fingerprint and at natural materials. Draw what you see, and begin a sandwich poem using your observations.
Deadline: September 14th
