Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Join us for a living history field trip to historic Lairdland Farm on September 8th at 1pm. This is an all ages event. Cost is $1/students, $5/Adults and free for under 8 years of age. We will meet in front of the farm 15 minutes prior to the start of our tour. Concessions will be available for an additional cost. We are free to stay until 5pm, but you can leave earlier if needed. All funds collected for admission will go the Reenactors group to help them keep providing educational events such as these.
This trip is a great follow up to our field trip to the Battle of Decatur event as it offers some different learning focuses than the Decatur event. It is also a wonderful stand alone field trip to learn about the civil war time period. Included in your admission is access to the on site civil war museum, the original farm smokehouse and 19th century traveler's cottage. Activities will include demonstrations such as blacksmithing, weaving, cooking, camping, sewing, laundering, medicine, music and dancing, candle making, old time toys, telegraphy, mourning customs, bee keeping, soap making and more! The 19th Alabama Civilian Corp re-enactors will recreate daily life during the Civil war wearing historically accurate costumes and using period equipment.
