Welcome Culinary & Hospitality Explorers!
Kickoff is September 20th, 2016
We at Jefferson State Community College, along with the Boy Scouts of America, are excited to offer an informative and fun learning experience for high school students like you interested in the field of hospitality and culinary arts.
Participants will learn from Chef Professors in Jefferson State’s award-winning Culinary & Hospitality Institute and enjoy hands-on learning activities and field trips around the community. The Boy Scouts of America began this program to not only educate young people about career opportunities, but also to teach them about making ethical choices in order to achieve their full potential as individuals. Therefore, we will not only be chopping, cooking and baking; we will also be dining with proper etiquette, setting goals, and delving into conflict resolution.
The program kicks off on Tuesday, September 20th, at 4:30 p.m. in the Merritt Health Science Building, Room 101. This building is located at 4600 Valleydale Road (at the corner of Valleydale Road and Jaguar Drive), Hoover AL 35242. With limited enrollment, all are invited to attend the kickoff, but spaces are filled with seniors and juniors having priority. There is no prior enrollment and/or application needed to attend the kickoff event. Students who are admitted into the program, will need to pay a $40 fee, which will cover registration in the Greater Alabama Council and liability insurance. Please make a check out to GAC. Students under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present for the kickoff meeting.
